What Mainstreet does

Before someone buys a business, they need to know if the earnings they're paying for are real. Sellers need the same answer before they go to market. That's a Quality of Earnings review, and it's what we do. Mainstreet is led by a Chartered Professional Accountant licensed in Alberta, Canada, and serves clients across North America.

What you do

Find people buying or selling a business: owners getting ready to sell, search funders, first-time buyers, and the advisors around them.
Start a real conversation. LinkedIn, email, phone, your own network, online communities.
Register the prospect with us before you introduce them, so nobody gets contacted twice.
Once a prospect is interested, introduce them to our team and join the first meeting. We take it from there: scope, pricing and all of the work.

You don't need an accounting background. You need to understand what we offer and be good at starting conversations.

The calculator does not predict how many introductions turn into engagements, or how long that takes. That depends on you and on the prospects, and can be none. Commission is paid only on fees Mainstreet actually receives. Partial payments, refunds and disputes are handled under the partner agreement, so amounts shown here may differ from what is paid.

Repeat work pays too. If a client you introduced hires us again within 12 months, you earn 10% on that work as well.
What makes an introduction eligible. You register the prospect with us before you introduce them, you introduce them to our team and join the first meeting, and the prospect is not already a Mainstreet client or in active conversation with us. Commission applies only when that introduction leads to a signed engagement.
When a fee counts as collected. Commission is calculated on fees Mainstreet has actually received from the client, not on quoted or invoiced amounts.
When you get paid. After we collect. We pay by bank transfer in two parts. Commission on the deposit (10% of the deposit we actually receive) is paid within 3 business days of receiving it. The rest is paid within 3 business days after the engagement finishes and we receive the final payment. You get a statement with each payment. Attribution, partial-payment and dispute rules are in the partner agreement, which you can read before you accept.

The table shows how the 10% formula works. It is an illustration, not a prediction or a typical result, and you may earn nothing. This is an independent contractor role paid 100% on commission. There is no base pay, no hourly pay and no guaranteed earnings; what you earn depends entirely on engagements that result from your introductions and produce fees we actually collect. There is never any cost to join. Fee amounts shown are illustrative; actual client fees vary. Mainstreet discloses referral arrangements to its clients.

Who fits

Strong written and spoken English.
A LinkedIn profile. It's required once you join, because it's how you'll reach people.
At least 5 hours a week. Go full-time if you want to.
Students: this is built for you. Work from your laptop around classes, build real B2B sales experience and a track record with a financial due diligence firm.
Either a network of business owners, buyers or deal people, or real skill at personalized outreach. Students and early-career people are welcome.

Not eligible: employees, officers or agents of banks or lenders; people working at CPA, bookkeeping or fractional CFO firms; licensed or regulated professionals such as lawyers, business or real estate brokers, and financial or insurance advisors.

We run Quality of Earnings reviews: we analyze the quality and sustainability of a business's reported earnings before a transaction closes. Mainstreet is led by a Chartered Professional Accountant licensed in Alberta, Canada.

Use your own real LinkedIn account to start one-to-one, personalized conversations with business owners, buyers and brokers in the US and Canada.
Get interested people booked on a call with our team. We take the call from there.
Low-volume, personalized outreach only: no bots, no automation, no mass messaging, no scraping, no shared logins. Stop contacting anyone who asks you to.
Optional approved message templates and a one-page pitch are provided. You do not need an accounting background.

What you earn

$25

for each qualified call that is actually held, plus $100 more if that prospect engages Mainstreet and pays the required deposit. Paid in USD. Nothing is paid for messages sent. If no qualified call is held, you earn $0.

What counts as a qualified call. A qualified call is a first call of at least 15 minutes, held with a Mainstreet principal, with a US or Canadian business owner or buyer who has a real or planned small-business transaction, or a broker actively working with those transactions, that the contractor sourced and booked through their own outreach and that was not already in Mainstreet's CRM, an active conversation or reserved to another partner when registered.

Attribution. The first contractor to register a prospect in the CRM is credited. A prospect Mainstreet already knows is a duplicate and is not paid.
No-shows and cancellations. A prospect no-show does not qualify. If Mainstreet reschedules, payment is due when the rescheduled call is held. If Mainstreet cancels a confirmed qualifying call and does not reschedule it, the $25 is still paid.
When you get paid. The $25 is paid weekly (Fridays) for calls held in the prior week. The $100 is paid within 3 business days after the deposit is received.
Disclosure. Mainstreet tells its clients in writing, in the engagement letter and before any work begins, that the person who introduced them may be paid by Mainstreet.
Disputes. Attribution disputes are reviewed against timestamped CRM and booking records. You have 7 days to submit supporting evidence, then you receive a written determination.

The complete compensation and attribution terms are in the contractor agreement, which you will see before you start. This is an independent contractor role with no minimum hours, quotas or exclusivity. You use your own equipment and are responsible for your own applicable taxes and registrations, subject to any withholding or reporting Mainstreet is legally required to make. Income is not guaranteed and may be $0.
